It is natural for testosterone levels to gradually decline in the aging male. However, it is not natural for the levels to fall below a certain level.
Causes of Low Testosterone Levels in Men
- Low T can happen when the brain and the testes have trouble communicating. This causes a drop in the amount of testosterone being produced.
- The brain could also feel there is too much testosterone in the body and signal the testes to stop the production of testosterone.
- Low testosterone levels may also be due to a medical condition in which the body does not produce enough testosterone called hypogonadism. Some men are born with hypogonadism, while some develop it later in life.
